Hello i have an a dell optiplex 745 desktop form, i want to know what is the best cpu i can put in to it, as well it needs to be an intel core 2 duo.

also for some reason when i tried to put a E6750 but it did not work.
my current cpu in an e4600. also will the Core 2 Duo E6700 work in my pc

Solution
Core 2 Duo E6700 (not to be mistaken with Pentium E6700 which is a newer CPU and won't work!) is likely the best one you can use in that system. According to official specs in PDF, the best supported CPUs are

"Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 1066MHz FSB Socket T with Dual Core technology XD, EM64T, 2MB and up to 4MB L2 cache, EIST and VT (E6000 series)"

The E6750 you tried to use is a 1333MHz FSB CPU, so it is not supported. E6700 should work, though.
What chipset is that motherboard? Or even better, do you know the exact model? That would help us find out if your board supports Core 2 Quad chips, which would be a much better option.

Also what power supply are you using? The one Dell is using might only just be good enough for the PC, a common fault of pre built PCs.

also i am using the powersupply what came with the pc

hello i have done some research and found out the best this pc can handle is a Intel 2 duo

Like I said it depends on your South bridge, there are 2 different motherboards for that PC one will run a Core 2 Quad Q6600 or Q6700 one won't both will run Core 2 Duo Q6700 as the max.

its not the q6700 that is a quad core, i think you mean the E6700
