LGA 1150 is a viable option, especially in a small form factor build.(u-ATX,M-ATX) Haswell debuted just before summer of 2013 and an i3 4130 (2c4t) paired with some of the higher end cards from that very year would be fine for many titles, even some demanding ones. There is a good many reviews featuring either a Haswell i3 41xx or Pentium G3258 paired with GTX 760. Good price point for the Haswell i3.
Another note to make is the performance of lower tier CPUs (in recent years) paired with an Nvidia GPU. Quite possibly the DirectX 11 Driver support is better for that type of system with Nvidia.
Last note, the i5 4590 was on sale when i checked newegg. it is slightly more expensive this year but it is part of the Haswell Refresh...
