Best CPU/GPU config

Will an Intel core i5 4690k and Nvidia GTX 980 ti last longer in 1080p gaming than an Intel core i7 5820k and Nvidia GTX 970?
•Which cpu/gpu combo will be more "future proof"
•Is there a noticeable difference in 1080p gaming between them?

If you are gaming and doing no or little editing the i5 is your best bet. Hardly ever will I recommend a LGA2011v3 socket CPU.
