In your guys' opinions, what do you think the best gpu and cpu are, IN THE WORLD. Like I'm talking the best of the best here.

From what I know, the Titan X Superclocked seems to be the best to me, but I want to know what you guys think about the best GPU and CPU.

On the CPU question, the intended usage becomes very important.
If the use is for gaming, then I might argue that the faster cores of a i7-4790X will be better than the extra, but slower cores of a I7-5960X.

But, then, if one is graphics limited and needs several graphics cards, the extra pcie lanes of the lga 2011v3 motherboards may become more important.

OTOH, for multithreaded apps, an 8 core will be better.

Whats an i7 4790X

The best cpus are RISC cpus. More then double the speed of a CISC (aka x86) cpu. It boils down to what do you want it for? If you're a gamer, a I5 will do the job. Any faster cpu will NOT give you better speeds, because most games are based on video card, not cpu.

As far as I know (and I searched this up), there is no such thing as the i7-4790X. You may have meant the i7-4790K, with a "K" at the end, not an "X."

Dollas4Eva_SR,

CPU:

By the numbers- Passmark averages of users' systems the highest calculation density- the winner is: Xeon E5-2699 v3 (18-core @ 2.3 / 3.6GHZ, 45MB cache) > $4,770.

http://ark.intel.com/products/81061/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2699-v3-45M-Cache-2_30-GHz

GPU:

The aggregate ratings for the top three GPU's in Passmark:

1. GeForce GTX 980 Ti (6GB) > 11,133 ($660)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133611&cm_re=GeForce_GTX_980_Ti-_-14-133-611-_-Product

2. GeForce GTX TITAN X > 11,036 ($1,050)
3. Quadro M6000 > 10,523 >$5,000

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php

The GTX 980 Ti seems reasonably priced given it's NO. 1 rating.

Favorites:

However, the "best" is going to be the best for the use and be the standard, my favorite CPU for visualization and /or scientific applications is the Xeon E5-2687w v2 (3.4 / 4.0MHz, 25MB cache > $2,110

http://ark.intel.com/products/76161/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2687W-v2-25M-Cache-3_40-GHz

This has an excellent balance of a lot of cores and high clock speed- and can be used as a pair.

For GPU's, the best in the world of workstations is the Quadro M6000 (12GB) > $5,000

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133586

This has to be extraordinarily good at everything.

Cheers,

BambiBoom
