Best cpu to get along with 780(not overclocking)

what is the best cpu to get in combination with a 780? (im not planing to overclock,
the games im going to play are cpu depended)

There will be a small increase of performance between the 3570 and the 4670, however in gaming, there will be no noticeable difference . IMO, getting a 4670k without overclocking is a waste, since you getting a CPU with an unlocked muliplier.

If you don't plan to overclock, the non "K" variants would be fine but the unlocked version could add extra years to future-proof IMO

Your best choices are the 3570/4670 (and their unlocked variants), or an Fx-8350.

I agree with getting a K variant. (3570k or the 4670k) and since you games are be "CPU depended" overclocking your CPU will give you a FPS boost in some games.

The main difference is the integrated GPU. The 3570 has an HD 2500 and the 4670 uses a HD 4600 which is much better. But you are getting a 780 so it doesn't really matter. The 4670 is slightly faster and uses less power. Haswell (4670) has a better voltage regulation system which is part of the CPU. But, really, anything the Haswell 4670 can do, the Ivy Bridge 3570 can do equally as well. The only time you will notice a difference is if you run a benchmark. As for either CPU with a 780, they both have PCI-e 3.0 and will pretty much be the same combined with the 780, although the newer Intel H87 boards that have Virtu MVP do not include the software for free anymore. Older H77 boards did. At least when I got a Z77 it was free. Virtu MVP combines the iGPU with the 780 to give you better performance.

Yes, if you do not plan on overclocking, any unlocked ("k") processor is a complete waste. So is a Z77 or Z87 motherboard. Just get the H-series. It is the same as the Z-series but without overclocking and cheaper (if both are ATX or both are mini-ATX, etc.). The CPU will still boost, but it is locked out from going any higher.

Yes. most Z87 boards are SLI/Crossfire capable. I have the Asus Z87-A, it's capable of both SLI and Crossfire (only 2 cards, 2x8) it goes for 145-150$ give or take

Yes, any 1150 CPU will work in any 1150 motherboard. But, there are H87 boards that are SLI compatible. For example this $99 Asrock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157378 A similar Z87 board would cost $50-$60 more. Besides, if you are going to OC, you are going to do it now or never. If the time comes that you need it, it will probably be time to get a new system. And everyone who is telling you to get a K chip now will advise you not to overclock and get a new PC in 4 or 5 years.

the problem is that i dont use an amd card
i use nvidia
so it looks like i have to get a z87 after all
