Best CPU to pair with GTX 1080

I just bought a GTX 1080 8gb that was on sale. I believe my current i5-3570k will bottleneck this GPU. But I am not sure which CPU is the best to go with GTX 1080 that will not bottleneck it.

I don't do hardcore gaming. I have two monitor with one being 34" ultrawide and I mostly play FFXIV, Fortnite, Witcher 3, Diablo 3 and Sims 4. I also play video on the second monitor while gaming.

Anyone has any recommendation on which CPU I should get and also recommendation to go with the CPU?

Thank you!

Do you want to overclock? If yes then I’d go with the latest platform and either a i5 8600k (about the same as a 7700k if not slightly better) or a 8700k. The 8600k is plenty but if you want the best then it’s the 8700k.

I don't plan on overclocking it, I'm afraid to. Thanks.

I5-8400 if dead set against OC. Anything higher like the 8500 or 8600 don't return enough performance increase to justify the cost increase.

That's if you plan on spending the cash outlay of also having to buy new ram new cpu, new mobo as none are compatible with your current lga1155. For best cpu in that area, it's the i7-3770K, as that cpu had the highest base clocks /turbo clocks of any lga1155. The advantage of the i7 is simply HT, it'll alleviate much of the loads of high thread games. I own both a 3570k and a 3770k, and yes there is a marked difference in ability.

Video on 2nd monitor really has negligible power draw from cpu or gpu, so isn't really a factor as such.
