Hello. My main PC just recently died from a fried motherboard, which means my processor in the machine is rendered unusable as well. I am looking for replacement parts, not too expensive. The graphics card is fine.

I am looking at a Core 2 Duo E8400 from Intel, and an Athlon 5150/5350 from AMD. I need something that is capable of running Minecraft on default settings at 1280x1024.

Thanks in advance

Typo, but it still is a discrete GPU and the additional cost of an APU serves no purpose. Based on your OP I presume you're looking for inexpensive used components, but should you decide to buy a new motherboard and CPU, then consider an Intel i3-4170 or the AMD Athlon X4 860K if you don't want an Intel CPU, but it's slower in games.

You need to give us a budget. If the CPU and motherboard both need replacing it doesn't make much sense to go with extremely old tech "unless" your budget is extremely low. Telling us what it is and where you live would give us more information to possibly make a better suggestion.

I'm in the US, specifically Maine. I'm thinking of just buying some parts, because other components in that PC are beginning to mark their decline as well.
I'm on a budget of around $200, but can stretch to $250 if I need to.
I have an old eMachines case I can use, it supports up to mATX boards.

A CPU, motherboard and memory have to be included in the $250 budget? If so, this build costs less than $200, including taxes and delivery:

CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 $107.99 SuperBiiz
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 $41.98 Newegg
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $39.99 Newegg

It should cost less if you can wait until Thanksgiving Day. The i3-4170 is a lot faster than the Core2 Duo E8400.
