i really dont get how the i3 7100 would be a good value for the moeny either get the pentium g4560 or go for the ryzen 1400.
I know there would be a small price gap, but put that budget money towards a better psu

Much better recommendations....nice job guys...though that 1500X has just got to beat out that 7500...there has got to be a mistake there somewhere...there's just gotta be! I must find it! :O

Minecraft 1.11.2 at 800x600 averages around 4% cpu usage.
Minecraft at 1080p averages around 10% cpu usage.

Both measurements were taken at night while staring at an ocean covered in frozen ice.

giving a stat that omits the lowest 1% is in no way more representative, because in spite of how the 99% looks the user still quacking sees those bottom 1% of frames. at the very least both stats should be given tbh if you want a proper representation of what the game runs like.

also, doesnt everyone just ducking love having their posts deleted for daffy billocks like the choice of language they use?

Lower resolutions put more load on CPU. Reviewers run CPU gaming tests at lower resolutions to eliminate/lower bottleneck on the GPU side. The performance gap between Ryzen and Kaby Lake narrows significantly at higher resolutions.

Yes with uncapped fps since the GPU then becomes capable of more fps which now makes the CPU work harder... I said dropping res increases CPU load unlocked for style, locking the fps for all 3 tests has very minor changes in usage

When building a budget gaming system, the total price difference between Ryzen 1400 and i3 7100 w/ their respective motherboards is between 5-10% (Microcenter CPU+Mobo prices). The AM4 ecosystem is ripe with upgrade potential, while the 200 series is basically dead and can't go beyond 4 physical cores. I'm shaking my head at the shillage required to include i3s/i5s here.

On your next gaming cpu article....would it be possible to include a link to the specific benchmarks results used to recommend these processors? Or am I just not seeing it here?

This <Mod Edit Language>is the reason why i have not visited toms hardware in last 6 months
I used to check site everyday before but i sensed so many shady review/articles and thought best way to stop this is to not come back to site.
Not gonna give any examples you all know what i'm talking about, if not not gonna waste my time arguing with you my ship sailed to other unbiased tech website.

G4560 - nice 7th gen budget 2 cores 4 threads, high freezes possible in heavy games, 3MB L3 cache, poor stock cooler, 83$
R3 1200 - budget 4 cores 4 threads, 8MB L3 cache, micro freezing in some games, nice stock cooler, 109$
R5 1400 - budget all around performance, 4 cores 8 threads, little micro freezing is still possible in some heavy games, 8MB L3 cache, nice stock cooler, 160$
R5 1600 - all around performance + some streaming, 6 cores 12 threads, 16MB L3 cache, nice stock cooler, 210$
I5 7600k - high gaming performance in most games, micro freezing in some games, 4 cores 4 threads, 6MB L3 cache, no cooler, 235$
R7 1700 - all around performance + heavy streaming, 8 cores 16 threads, 16MB L3 cache, nice stock cooler, 291$
I7 7700k - very high gaming performance in most games, little micro freezing is still possible in some heavy games, 4 cores 8 threads, 8MB L3 cache, no cooler, 309$

I was still using an old 775 QX9650 until Sandy Bridge then I upgraded. I had it overclocked for more demanding games.

actually can freely edit nonX ryzens in my list to some of the ryzen X versions & with a320 mobos, overclocking are locked, but in some countries it can be even cheaper & perhaps even less temps & more performance,, like 1200 to 1300x, 1400 to 1500x, 1600 to 1600x, & 1700 to 1700x especially when now it's being only 10$ higher,, but 1800x are bad value
