Hey everyone,
I got a Q6600 G0 and will have either a gigabyte P35C-DS3R or P35-DS3P mobo. I need memory that is compatible with the board (I assume all memory will that is compatible with one of those will be with the other).

I want 2 gigs of DDR2 ram.

I may OC the cpu. So I want ram good enough for a overclock to 3.0 from the stock 2.4 of the Q6600.

What is my best choice of ram? What speed? What brand? What latency? etc...

I have looked at this set for 112 at newegg, has great reviews:
Patriot eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC22G6400LLK - Retail
( http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820220144 )

Would like to spend around $75 - 150$. Cheaper would be nicer!
Anyone have experience with any particular brand or model for this type of setup?

Thanks!

Right now I have a Ds3 v.3.3, with 4GB (4 x 1GB) and am truly happy with this selection. The ram I have is Corsair XMS2 800 w/ 5 timings.

I have Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066 2x1GB running and my Q6600 is running at 3.0Ghz (333x9) and it's a B3 on the DS3R. The ram works great to as it's running 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v.

i have OCZ platinum ddr2 800 4-4-4-15 and i can run at 3.00 ghz without lowering the memory except my timings have to be 5-5-5-18. BTW what voltage are u guys using to get to 3.00 ghz on ur q6600. I have to set mine all the way up to 1.3065 v to get stable.

You definitely don't need anything more than DDR2-800 even if you're going to overclock. If you want to save some money this looks good. I have some old DDR-400 A-DATA and it works fine.

Personally I would spend a little more and go for this. It's got good reviews and really tight timings.

There's lots of other good choices out there too. Just keep in mind that the high multiplier on you Q6600 means that you don't need fast RAM to get a good OC. If you have leftover cash spend it on another 2GB, not on faster and potentially incompatible DDR2-1066.

I believe my voltages are at the exact same for the same clock speed on my Q6600.
