I'm upgrading my current 8GB of DDR3 1333MHz RAM to 16GB, and I'm uncertain as to which speed will produce the greatest benefits.

My motherboard is an ASRock Z77 Extreme4, and I'm using an i7-3770k.

Hi rpeopler :)

Although your MB supports up to 32Gb of 2800MHz OC RAM, your CPU officially supports DDR3 1333/1600MHz and anything above that are considered OC RAM.
What this means is they may not work if you try to mix kits even of the same spec and that is the risk you take.

I recommend you get a single kit at 1600MHz X 16GB (2x8). Keep the others for spares.
If you have experience with your Bios and how to adjust Primary Timings and voltage then you can try OC RAM otherwise stick with 1600MHz as a single kit.

4x4Gb, Quad Channel sounds better!

That would be great if the MB and CPU supports quad channel.? Specs indicate the MB supports Dual Channel DDR3 memory technology and as far as I know the i7-3770K supports dual channel so yes you can occupy four RAM slots but no quad.

Meh...2x Double channel...But as per their word "This motherboard unlocks maximum memory performance, coming with 4 DIMM slots for dual-channel memory,"
