Best Display / Resolution for a 1060p (6 GB) GPU?

I recently built a new custom desktop using the following GPU:

MSI Geforce GTX 1060 6 GB

I'm now looking for a new monitor, and I was wondering what resolution I should go for? I'd like to make the jump to 1440p, but I'm not sure that the GPU can handle it.

I know that my GPU is able to run games smoothly at 1080p, but would it be able to manage the same games at 1440p? If I got a 1440p monitor, could I downscale the resolution to 1080p for a similar experience, or would the quality / performance suffer?

I'd look at 1440P/60hz or 2560x1080P/60+hz. I would only recommend the ultrawide if the games you play support the 21:9 ratio.

no point downscaling, but 1440p can be run at high settings, I run a 1440p setup with a 970, which the 1060 slightly beats.

I'm looking at a few options now.

Option A: AOC 2778VQE
Option B: BenQ GW2785HT

Any input, or other recommended monitors?

I like the BenQ since it's IPS. Now if your comparing the TN version of each of those monitors then either would be fine.

Pardon my ignorance, but what makes an IPS monitor better than a TN one.

And is it worth the difference between 4 and 1 ms response time?

IPS panel displays better colors over TN panels however as you noticed the TN panels have a faster response time but unless your into competitive FPS such as CSGO the difference is very minimal.
