Best display to buy at the moment

Hello,

I'll soon have finished my build, all that's left is an dislpay.

I currently have 2 1080p screens (which are going to dissapear) and 1 2K IPS screen. All are 60Hz.

I'm currently unsure about wether i should go for a 4k screen ( which sadly is only 60 hz for an affordable price ) or to go for an 2k screen with 120/144+ HZ. Since i heard that going to a higher HZ really does make a difference. I am planning to game a bit on it ( bit of everything though mostly games like league of legends / player unknowns battleground / killing floor / world of warcraft ).
I was also doubting of just going for a 4k television to game on which is for some reason a hell lot cheaper then an 4k monitor but then i'd have an 40 inch tv fairly close which i think might be a bit to huge.

I will have an 1080 Watercooled GPU So i believe i would be able to handle both 4k 60 hz as 2k 144hz.

Currently i have my eye on the ACER PREDATOR XB271HUBMIPRZ but it's a lot of money (790€) and i'm not sure yet if it's trully worth that much.

I've already read tons of reviews about monitors and the "best of". Though if possible i'd be great to get a list of recommended displays from someone with a bit more knowledge about it then myself.

I'm not an color freak but i can appreciate it and sicne i already have an IPS screen at the moment i don't really want to down grade there.

So to my question:

What monitors would you suggest at this moment? ( I do not really have an budget but well the cheaper the better ofcourse :) ).

Thanks,

Wouter

Since you have a 2k ips @ 60hz, i wouldnt necessarily make the jump up to 4k @ 60hz. That said, assuming you have the money, I would hold out a bit for this...

This would future proof you for quite some time.

Otherwise, your best bet if you want higher refresh rate is to go with a monitor like one you suggested (2k, IPS @ 144hz). You might want to search for one that has free-sync instead of g-sync. Sure the variable refresh rate wont work, but it will save you a good $200 and you can still make use of the higher refresh rate. Just something to think about.

Sorry, this doesnt specifically answer your question, but I just wanted to give you something to think about and my 2 cents worth

If you play games like WoW and LoL, you should definitely stick to IPS.

There are 144hz IPS monitors out there -- only thing is that they're usually 4ms instead of 1ms like a TN. This won't matter if you play strategy games and mmo's.

^^ Here is my #1 pick for you. 165hz, G-Sync, IPS, 2k. Perfection.
All monitors seem like a lot of money, but you really get what you pay for.
It'll cost 790 euros now, but you'll eventually earn the money back. And, you'll be able to enjoy the view, especially if you'll use it every day.

At this already high price point, I would still recommend the 560 pound Dell over a 790 pound IPS every time. That's a 40% markup for a little better color accuracy.

I've looked at the Dell side by side with IPS at a local store and wasn't swayed. Been using it for almost a year and have never said "man, I wish that red was more... red."

But, it's up to you! If money is no object, the Asus will be great.

Hi All,

Thanks for your suggestions. I did some further research and won't go for an 4k screen in the end ( everything would look to small on an 27 inch ).
I did read some reviews about the Dell but i'm going to go anyway for an IPS ( Since my other screen is IPS also i don't really want to downgrade everytime i go to my "game" screen ).

So that leaves with the 1440p IPS panels.
@Fishlol69 The one you suggested looks indeed what i seek.
As for now my eyes are on the ASUS rog swift PG279Q ( design wise then ).

I did find 3 other screens which kinda exactly do the same. Since they're all arround the same price i wonder which of these 4 is "better".
*Acer Predator XB271HU
*ViewSonic XG2703
*AOC AG271QG
*ASUS rog swift PG279Q

As for as my knowledge goes these 4 kinda doe the same. I know IPS is a technology invented by LG so they each kind of have their own IPS. Is there a "better" one between these 4 monitors or should you just go for what looks best?

Thanks in advance,

Wouter

-I have an Acer Predator XB241H (24 inch, 180hz, TN). The monitor itself feature-wise is good, but it has a lot of issues with color and it has bothersome horizontal scanlines with mine and several others' monitors. Acer's customer support is alright. Sometimes I wish I went with a different monitor.
-I remember I had a Viewsonic crt once. Was okay. Not sure how their monitors are now, but I never thought of Viewsonic as gaming.
-AOC seems okay
-Asus's monitor should be the best out of these choices. I've actually tried it in Micro Center and it looks amazing.
Can't go wrong with the Asus monitor. There are reviews for it online too.
