Best dremel bit for cutting small holes in thin sheet metal

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can give me some help with this. I'm an artist making custom art lamps. I purchased 36 gauge copper foil/sheet metal. I want to cut small holes all over it so the lamps cast light on walls/ceilings. The holes need to be smallish (between 1/8" and 1/4" diameter). I have a dremel with a ton of bits, but want to use the correct one. Best bit for this particular job?

Surely a Dremel drill bit of the required size would be the obvious answer.

I might suggest you buy a conventional 1/4 or 3/8" drill and a drill set with the sizes you need.
Most drill bits will work, but metal drill bits are better than wood drill bits

I personally wouldn't use a dremel for that. I think you're better off drilling. Just ask someone at home depot, if you're from the US that is... Good luck on your lamp, sounds very steam punk.

A punch might give you cleaner edges than drilling. Copper is pretty soft and sould be easy to punch rather than drill. Probably faster also.

At .005" (5mil), drilling or Dremel is completely out of the question. Either laser cut, water jet, or punched is the only way to get clean holes.
