I am not sure I would recommend either. I would look at MSI and ASUS laptops, to compare specs and prices. Alienwares tend to just be overpriced dell's. If you insist on buying it, go with the i7, and make sure it is an actual quad core model, and not a dual core with hyperthreading, like the i5's are.
