Good afternoon,

I know they are not out yet and no benchmarks are official but I am calling on PC pros to please take an educated guess to the question below.

What do you think will get me the most frames out of a 5800x or 5900x at 1080p gaming with a 3070 gpu.

I am buying on the 5th so won't have time to check real benchmarks, but the CPU will be purely for gaming only.

Kind regards

Ape

That's a great answer. My target is 240 frames on a 240hz monitor on league of legends / Call of duty warzone / PUBG. When paired with the 5900x should I still stick to the 3070 or go with the 3080 although the 3080 is for 4k gaming and it might be too much for 1080p would it still net me many more frames or will the 3070 be perfectly fine?

Early reports (and Nvidia claims) would put the 3070 right in line with a 2080TI - So you could compare benchmarks currently and see how a 2080TI fares at the resolution/settings you want to play at.

A 2080TI can do 200+ FPS at 1440p v. High in LoL, so a 3070 should be plenty for 240Hz 1080p with a decent CPU.

I believe a 2080TI is needed for >144FPS Warzone High and 3080 is doing...

For strictly gaming, I think the Ryzen 5 5600X is going to be a smarter buy (as pretty much all R5's have been vs's 7s or 9s). 54-66% of the 5800X or 5900X in terms of cost, and will likely net you >95% of the performance

That being said, for outright "best" performance, especially at 1080p, you're going to want the highest IPC and clock speeds - so the 5900X will likely win out, however marginally.
