I'm getting a new laptop for schoolwork and some gaming. I'm almost positive the processor and graphics card are more than capable of running Skyrim, dota 2, tf2, cs:go, and even GTA: V. However, when I looked more closely at the HDD, I realized it clocked at 5400 rpm. I have been planning on playing MMORPGs and big open world games and I have found there will be lag spikes due to the hard drive not being able to GIVE as fast as the CPU can TAKE. I'm worried this 5400 rpm hard drive will cause severe lag in some of my games like WoW! So, I've been looking into SSDs and 7200-10000 rpm hard drives. My only problem is I cannot decide which will be best. Help?

Solution
An SSD will make everything you do on your laptop feel faster. It won't affect gaming performance a whole lot, other than loading maps a little faster. The price has come down enough on them that there really is no reason not to use one now. It's hard to go back once you've gotten used to the SSD.
