Hi. Maybe somebody can recommend good free antivirus, antimalware and etc. software? Long time i used avast, malwarebytes, and adblock plus for firefox. Now I disliked avast, cause it looks so adware, bloatware, and cheap looking. Thanks.
A combination of Windows Defender (especially if you are on Win 10) plus Malwarebytes is your best bet. https://www.howtogeek.com/225385/wh...r-windows-10-is-windows-defender-good-enough/Hi. I recommend kaspersky free, it’s the leading competitor, and 100 times better than Windows defender with malwarebytes. Even if people say it’s Russian software I currently use it and no viruses have gone through..Hi. Maybe somebody can recommend good free antivirus, antimalware and etc. software? You are correct, although reviewers give Kaspersky a 10/10 on system performance impact, I have tried this out for myself and Kaspersky has never gotten on my way, with phishing it's also the best 9.9/10 of the malicious websites and phishing links are blocked. And about being personally prudent, geofelt is also right although there can be websites that you visit that look completely safe but in the background, there's could be something fishy going on.Windows defender is free, unobtrusive and does as good a job as any on known viruses.
If you need to look for in the wild viruses, then there are other options which will cost you not only $ but performance.
I do not see the need for that if you are reasonably prudent.
Most infections come in from social engineering.
Phishing for example.
Do not click on email links, do not visit porn sites.
Keep an external backup of whatever you value and you will be OK.
