Gets you into a Skylake build and 970 with room for overclocking ... the bigger 500GB SSD would eliminate the need for a second drive and keep everything in one place for simplicity ... if 500 GB is enough for everything for you, then this works; if you are going to far exceed that, then go for the 250 GB SSD and regular HDD for storage.

Not just that, but also a rather poor motherboard for OC'ing, below DDR4-2800 I'd consider a waste, and It's 1170 dollars without rebates.

Your build is ok JQB but I would've gone with better RAM, better CPU cooler and a better power supply (FSP Made EVGA unit). You can fit that without quality loss in 1100 dollars.

But the OP wants a GTX 960 and hasn't named any other intentions with it, so we really don't know what he needs and what he doesn't.

Cheaper by about $40 but adding a minor pain in the neck.

Believe me, I wrestled with the same decision on my most recent build, but eventually came to the conclusion that SSD prices have come down enough to make 500GB viable as a main. If you have tons of videos to store, then go with a HDD for storage, but most of the time what I see is that people go for a 160GB or 250GB SSD with a 1TB or 2TB data drive, and 90% of it sits there unused. A single SSD is so much simpler now that it's actually possible without breaking the bank. It helped that I got a Samsung EVO 850 500GB on sale for about $140. But if you're patient, you can eventually find a deal that rivals the typical SSD+HDD combo.

As for the case ... who cares? You can choose this or that, but it's all a matter of opinion about what look you're going for. And you can get just about any look you want in the ~$50 range. Swap it out with whatever you want; I guarantee you can find what you're looking for.

@Grisless - How about some input at this point? Just a lot of speculation and the people you are looking to for guidance could use some by you right about now, especially about what you would ideally like to see in a case.
