What is the best gaming headset that I can purchase without having to have a sound card?
Price can be anywhere up to $200.

Best gaming headset would depend on many parameters other than the audio quality itself.. As suggested above, search in the forums and around the web.. As a quick recommendation, the Creative sound blaster arena is quite good..
