Best Gaming Headset?

I just want everyone's opinion on the best gaming headset. I have even heard that getting actual headphones and a high end mic was a better solution. What do you guys think?

My son went from a $365 set of Sennheisers to a $100 Logitech 930 about a year ago..... Sennheisers were better fo music, but for gaming indistinguishable....and he loves not ripping the things off his head every time he stands up as the 930s are cordless.

I already bought the Steelseries H Wireless headset. It went from $300 to $240. So I jumped on the chance. I checked amazon today and it jumped back up to $275. I haven't tried them out yet because I also just received the parts for my PC and I still need to assemble it. Thanks for the suggestion though!
