Hi everyone,

I'm really looking for a good keyboard for my new desktop, however I'm running into some issues.

Issues
1) I'm used to a laptop, so I'm accustomed to small keys. The laptop keyboard I have is full size, but the keys do not stick up high

2) Following #1, I was really hoping to find a keyboard that was more like a laptop keyboard with regards to the keys being less tall.

I've noticed desktop keyboards have much taller keys. The spacing doesn't bother me, it's just that I prefer my keys to be a smaller height.

I've owned the Razer Lycosa keyboard and it was awesome. It was the best middleground I ever found between a full desktop gaming keyboard and a laptop's built in keyboard. It is my hope to find one like that but without all the horrible issues Razer is known for.

3) I want a fully mechanical keyboard
4) NO RAZER. No need to ask why. I'm a Logitech fan and I'm wiling to try many others, including pricier keyboards by Corsair.

I've looked everywhere but I cannot seem to find any keyboards that have the shorter keys.

Thanks!

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-k60-performance-fps-mechanical-gaming-keyboard

Light, responsive Cherry MX Red mechanical switches for fast, efficient gaming action
45g actuation Force
2mm to actuation and 4mm to bottom
Rated for 50 million operations
Gold contacts

but as you can see they still actuate at 2mm so that is pretty shallow for a key press. this is true for all mechanical keyboards to my knowledge.
You're thinking of chiclet keys, and they don't make mechanical switches for those (at least I'm pretty sure they don't).

For a full keyboard, get a Corsair K70. For a TKL keyboard (keyboard minus the numberpad), see the above mentioned CM Quickfire Stealth or CM Quickfire Rapid.

this article is on the front page and may work for you

short throw.

i moved to a long press mechanical keyboard, the thing is you learn to be a touch typist. the keys do not have to be pressed all the way to actuate. they wok in an even shorter distance than laptop keys. i would go to a local frys electronics or something and try a few out if possible

that's awesome but is it for sale yet? I couldn't find it on amazon

booooooooooo! Don't hate Logitech

Check out the CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate, it's got the Cherry MX switches and it's a full size keyboard, even has decent backlightning.
It's probably one of the best gaming keyboards in it's price range, only downside is that it doesn't have any extra macro
keys.
