Best gaming monitor?

I'm looking for a very clear and sharp computer monitory with 1080p but wont have a delay for gaming... i haven't done must research but figured this was the place to start, thinking about the ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 20000:1 (1000:1) W/Speakers or is LED maybe not the best for gaming? Can someone please enlighten me, i'm very lost!

If you want the best, you might like 1080p @ 120hz. With 2ms, there is no ghosting, and the twice as fast refresh rate reduces latency, especially if you can get your FPS over 80.

One Question, I know that in the description the monitor says it is VESA compatible on 100mm x 100mm, but can you unscrew the stand that comes with it and put the monitor on another stand?

All VESA compatible monitors allow you to remove the stand. If you want to use another stand then it must be a VESA compatible stand.

I personally would go with the Acer 24inch http://www.hardwarepal.com/article/best-gaming-monitor its the orange one with the extreme design it has a 2ms response time 1920x1080p (btw its 3d-120hz aswell) and is relatively cheap. Most monitors are 100x100 or 75x75 vesa compatible which means you can connect them to any other stand thats is vesa compatible with a few screws or some fittings (if the stand has them).

The main specs you should look at is the response time and refresh rate. Go with a monitor with 2ms response time and 120hz refresh rate. Even if you don't do 3D gaming go with a 120hz monitor, I don't think 60hz works with 3D gaming. These specs should be good enough to eliminate any ghosting.

3D doesn't work with 60Hz since both eyes need 60 each. Thus you need 120Hz at least.
