I am new at building a PC, and I was trying to find out the best components for a gaming PC under $450. I do not need an operating system, monitor, keyboard, or mouse for this. I'm not expecting top-of-the-line games to play on ultra settings. My max is $450, and no more.

Slightly over budget. you could go with a phenom 2 x4 965be to save a bit.
