best gaming router

I've been informed by friends that the best gaming routers are linksys E4200v2 and the netgear N900 or asus with their new chip that I read somewhere on the internet gives better latency and ping ?

what is my best option if money is not a problem ??

I mainly play multiplayer games online like battlefield 3 and sorts, as for the router preferable to have wireless, but Gigabit Ethernet is a must

Personally I prefer ASUS or Linksys. As of late the quality of Linksys home consumer products have become questionable to me.
Netgears generally have issues when it comes to gaming that I have experienced.

According to reviews the router runs hot so I would recommend getting a fan for it as well.
As a side note the ASUS router I mentioned won a Tom's Hardware award.

ASUS seems to be a nice middle ground for business/home products for home consumer costs, as they provide more utilities than other popular home consumer routers.

As for netgear I would suggest the 1200 or 1750 series as opposed to N900.

I stream HD videos 24-7 as well and I run a minecraft server with an average of 6-8 people connected all the time.... so yeah it's awesome like that how it handles so much... it's got a powerful processor on it as well.

SIMILAR QUESTION - NOT A SOLUTION. Anyone have any recommendation for a good dsl modem? I think I'm choking mine with 2 computers, 2 kindles, xbox, ps3 and an I-phone. I'm also thinking about getting a "smart tv" with wifi-internet capability. My kids would play Modern Warfare 3 all day if I let them on xbox and PS3; and I watch YouTube and Hulu quite a bit myself. My current dsl modem is supplied by Frontier Communications and is an gt704wg at least 2 yrs old. Game play today is getting very choppy, like the old videoconferencing of 10 yrs ago which is highly uncool.

I would get a motorola surfboard or a scientific atlanta modem and get a seperate router. Most "residentail gateways" which are modem+router in one are very basic and lack the power needed for tons of users and any heavy network usage.

A new modem will not fix your issues as long as you're achieving your advertised subscription bandwidth, which with DSL, the further from the central location, the lower the quality you get. No modem will fix this.
DSL in itself is plagued with issues, so would suggest looking into cable or fiber as an alternative to running through 10yr old phone lines susceptible to moisture and oxidation.
Cable's downfall is that it is susceptible to bottlenecking if the service technicians are lazy and don't use proper equipment to prevent overloading of a block.

First step, check your bandwidth and connectivity, speedtest.net, pingtest.net
Check for packet loss and jitter on pingtest, and ensure you're achieving close to advertised bandwidth from speedtest.
If you experience a high jitter or any packet loss, your lines have static or other issues with them.
You may need to switch service providers or upgrade your DSL service to a faster service if available.
18Mbps is the general base subscription for cable, and can be upgraded up to 100Mbps in some locations.
6Mbps is the general base subscription for DSL, and can be upgraded up to 52Mbps in some locations.

You're right to insist on Gigabit Ethernet. You should always use cabled Ethernet when playing games as opposed to wireless which will definitely affect latency.

If money is no object, you should look into the D-Link DGL-5500 router. It has been designed for gamers and has an intelligent Quality of Service feature which will lessen both latency and jitter if set up correctly
