Hey guys - I'm sorry for asking a question that I'm sure has been asked a million times before but I did search around and couldn't exactly find all the answers I was looking for so I just figured I'd post.

I'm looking to buy a prebuilt comp for about 1000 bucks for gaming. I wanna play games like SCII, skyrim, diablo III on ultra-settings.

I was considering buying from cyberpower but it looks like alot of people are getting screwed by them so I also need to know a place to buy from. Also I don't know anything about overclocking but I guess i'd be willing to try it (would i need to?) so i guess that factors in too.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your help!

I guess I'll post what I think I'll get:

total comes out to 999 after rebate....is anything missing here and/or really hard to assemble?

I have no experience with Cyberpower, so I can't comment on that. However, the only thing I would add would be an aftermarket HSF. That will keep the CPU temp low and give you some thermal headroom for overclocking if you go that route in the future.

You might consider a Z68 board as well. Any particular reason you aren't building it yourself?

How about this for gaming.

Switch to a case you like I would go this NZXT M59 Gaming Mid-Tower Case with See-Thru Window or this Thermaltake Commander Mid-Tower Gaming Case
Add in case fans Maximum 120MM Case Cooling Fans for your selected case
switch to ASUS mother board [CrossFireX] Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 ATX Mainboard LucidLogix Virtu and Intel Smart Response Technology & 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB3.0, 2x SATA-III RAID,2 3 PCIe Gen2, 2 PCIe X1 & 2 3CI (All Venom OC Certified)
Put on dual cards of [Black November Special] AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card
[Free upgrade from 6770 1GB Video] Major Brand Powered by AMD
and lastly power supply upgrade
800 Watts - XtremeGear Gaming Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready
This should allow you to run almost any games you want at highest detail on a single monitor.

I've never built a computer before - is it easy? I'd hate to drop a grand and accidentally blow something up or something

i5-2500k $220
Asus ROG Maximus $170
8GB 2x4GB 1600MHz Corsair low profile heatspreader $60
Evga 560Ti $200
750w Antec PSU $100
LIAN LI Lancool PC-K62 Black $100
Total: $800?

EDIT: If your doing OCing to 5Ghz, get H100 for $110
Total with Cooler: $1000?

Also, for the hard-drive, I was reading reviews that said it can fail or go bad within a year or something? Since when do hard-drives "go bad" what does that even mean? Could I settle for a cheaper hard drive?

HDD usually go bad after 3 years, never heard of HDD going bad in a year... HDD can last you at least 3-5 years before it start having errors...

only thing you may want is a blue ray drive
or if there is a case you like the looks of better but that one I chose is good as it is especially how much you save as a combo
also want to get it by tomorrow as some things I chose have coupon codes that help the price.

Andrew - when I said not too easy - remember this is his first - 30 min? I think a first timer that is taking his/her time should be able to easily do it under 3 hours. As for the graphics choice I would suggest a GTX560Ti or a HD6950 if you can swing it for $220-240. If this is too much consider a GTX4601G for $160-190. One good card, in many ways is a better option than 2 in x-fire or SLI. This way you can add another later if you need. It would suck if you need more graphics power down the road and you have to cash in your SLI.
Think about the games you mentioned - all need major GPU power!!!!
-Bruce
.p.s - you may want to go for a z-68 chipset mobo and if you want a decent cooler for a little better price - 212 evo at $33
