Hello i am looking to get a new gpu to play upcoming titles and increase my fps in my old games i have currently 7850 2gb and i play my games around high/med settings getting decent fps (35-40) but my question is which gpu should i get for 1920x1080 to go high settings around 40+ fps and i have a fx6300 at stock speed (3.5ghz.)

Solution

as has been said the r9 390 or gtx970 are both good choices, the gtx970 being more power efficient if thats your thing. At stock speed you may find some games will still be cpu bottle necked though. Overall should still see a healthy fps increase though. the r9 280x is also a good choice, but if you got a 970 or r9 390 it will last you a lot longer before the next upgrade.
Awesome, a tier 2 Seasonic. Were I in your position, I would go for the GTX 970, because of the lower wattage requirement of that card compared to the R9 390. I had a very good experience with the MSI GTX 970 4G Gaming card. That's what I'd suggest, but you can get any brand that suites you.

I know that i will experience with bottlenecks with both cards should i get the gtx 970 because my aim before was to get the r9 280x but i know the gtx 970 is WAY better than the 280x so i will get the 970

Yeah, the 970 is very overclockable. I've "heard" that the R9 390 has very little room to overclock. I absolutely loved my GTX 970. Right now I have a 980 Ti (reference cooler) and I have to admit that I miss my MSI PCB/cooler from the 970. I only got the reference because I knew that I plan on getting a second card to SLI and I didn't want all that heat ending up in my case.

That's right - as the 390 is based on an older set of hardware overclocked to higher speeds (which is absolutely fine if you're OK with that, but it doesn't leave you much room to push it further).
