I am building a new PC for both productivity and gaming. I plan to play some games at 4k and others at 1080p. Which GPU would be the best option? The build is themes towards black and white, so I have been looking at the ASUS Dual 1070, but is a 1080 or 1080 Ti worth the cost? How long would it last before needing an upgrade and when should I buy (needs to be before Christmas)?

Solution
The most cost effective (price to performance) solution is to purchase a 1440p gsync monitor and a used gtx 1080ti on eBay for $500. 1440p resolution will give the 1080ti years of longevity before an upgrade is necessary. People are selling them with active warranties to make money for the 2000 series cards.

For 4K on demanding games, you need GTX 1080 or more. 1070 won't cut it.

You might wanna wait for the RTX series. While you're at it, watch some youtube 4K benchmarks of 1070/1080.

Hello, jdermotflanagan1970 i would suggest the GTX 1060 3GB at the minimum as 2nd Generation CPU's in AMD need a balanced Build and i am telling you the GTX 1060 would work great together pushing the Best Performance at least 60FPS high settings in most titles today.
