Hello,
I want to upgrade my Old desktop Pc for some Casual Gaming and Programming.
I am a little confused about the gpu to be used.

My current system specs are:
Intel core2duo e7200 o.c to 3.0 ghz
2gb ram ddr3 1333mhz
Psu:Corsair 450w
Hitachi Deskstar 160gb

motherboard: p5g41tm_lx 3
Motherboard specs:http://www.game-debate.com/motherboard/index.php?mot_id=182&motherboard=Asus%20P5G41T-M%20LX3

depends on your budget. at least 4gb is needed and 8gb is perfect for gaming.if i were you i wouldnt spend more than 100$ for a gpu and an additional 2gb of ram. better save money for hole system upgrade.but it will keep you warm till then!
first of all nvidia 750ti or amd 260x is your options due to psu limitation. i wouldnt want to push it to the limit with a more power hungry gpu.secondly any better gpu than these, would result on a severe cpu bottleneck, not that with these cards wont be any!also for gaming under windows 7 (i suppose), 2gb is very low, you need at least another 2gb module. just make sure it will be an even match (same mhz, cl , volts). also cpu bottleneck will always be on newer games and especially on mutiplayer games that tend to be more cpu bound!

Firstly, if you want casual gaming, you need a better processor as graphics cards wont work great with it, you probably need to completely re-do the computer using new parts instead of old ones.

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-vs2gb1333d3g its not under 100 but pretty close. also make sure the volts are the same with your ram. if you dont know check through cpuz also this with ddr5 would do better http://pcpartpicker.com/part/pny-video-card-vcggtx6501xpb
