Hello to the fellow users of Tom's Hardware!

Today, I would like to raise an important question.

When i built my first PC, i was looking for entry level hardware that would suit my light - medium level gaming needs. For the CPU + GPU, i choose the AMD Athlon X4 760K paired with the R7 260X.

At the time, i wasn't very familiar with the Price/Performance ratio concept. If i had properly understood this, then I would have purchased the Intel Core i5 4690K.

I have overclocked the CPU to 4.3 GHz and it is stable and works fine. However, I feel as though the choice of graphics card was incorrect. The drivers are somewhat unstable and framerates are somewhat inconsistent (even on lower settings).

I am now considering which GPU is ideal for the AMD Athlon X4 760K. I don't have the budget to build another system. For the GPU upgrade, I was considering the following options:

  • AMD R9 280
    AMD R9 285
    Nvidia GTX 760

Which GPU out of this would be the best? Obviously, I would want as little bottleneck as possible!

Please reply soon.

Regards.

Could be,depends also on the game,at 4.3 are you probably fine.Danoded is probably right when saying that the r9 270X is a better matched card, but the difference in price isn't that big at the moment so would i pick the r9 280 anyway. When you would upgrade the cpu+motherboard would you still have an imo decent card .

OK Thanks,

Will this GPU be bottle-necked by the processor?
