What is the most I can get for under $350, and preferably $330? A single GTX 970 Windforce OC? Dual R9 270 4GB's? Dual GTX 750 ti's? Or something else entirely?

Solution
SLI or crossfire is not worth it for low to mid end GPU's. For example when you want more graphical power than the high end-ish graphics cards like the R9 390X or GTX 980 then you could consider an SLI GTX 970 or Crossfire R9 290X or simply dual the most powerful graphics cards.

Because of the lower end specs it is not advisable to grab two GTX 750 Ti's for example, because the specs don't double up. The first graphics card does one frame and the second one does the other.

For 330 dollars, either the GTX 970 or the R9 390 is your best option.

depending on your full specs, gtx 970 is not a bad choice

I agree on the 970 or 390. Both are solid.

I went with a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 when it was on sale for $329. Very happy with it.

Dual high end GPUs are only needed for 4k. You will get around 80% more performance though, for 100% more cost, and sometimes have driver/game compatibility issues. So unless you absolutely NEED to go dual GPUs, it is better to get the best single GPU you can afford.
