Best GPU That Won't Bottleneck FX-6300

Currently I have a PowerColor 7850 PCS+ that is overclocked with Afterburner. It runs CS GO well in max settings around 250 FPS which is great. The only reason I want a better card is for games like Fallout 4, I run it in High & Medium Settings and get 40-60 fps but sometimes has major drops to around 25. I'm also upgrading my mobo because it throttles my FX-6300 really bad which is why i turned off Turbo Boost and have it at a steady 3.9 GHz. I been looking at 7950 and 7970 since they go for cheap because of the new AMD cards. Anyways, any recommendation is gladly accepted. Thanks.

Hi - Are you in the US and what's your budget?

Consider an R9 380x - it performs as well as a 7970 and is quite a bit less expensive($210-$240).

If your budget is higher than that - you jump to a 390 or gtx970, either offering a noticeable jump in performance
vs 7970/380x but the range is $100 more($310-$340).

In any event do upgrade your mobo. If you eventually decide on an R9 390 just double check it's length
to be sure it'll fit in your S340(it should, better safe than sorry))

If you are upgrading your motherboard you should swap to an intel motherboard and an i5 cpu, and a gtx 970/r9 390 will be your best option for graphics card

You should be able to get stable 4.2ghz from that cpu with a little overvolting, if you game at 1080p consider a gtx 960, or an r9 380, if you're using windows 7 consider a dx11 card like gtx780 or 780ti or an r9 290x, they will work better but they cost a bit more than a newer lesser card.

weak cpu + bad power supply, limits your choices

nvidia gpu's help weak amd cpu's regain a bit of performance thanks to lowering overhead

also dont waste any more money trading motherboards

save a bit more and jump to an i5 build

Keep your current video card, spend the money on the motherboard and video card in a new Intel i5 build for gaming, buy new video card when next gen cards come out. Your CPU will hold you back in games right now more than the video card, the 7850 is still a decently fast video card, good match for the CPU you have now. If you want a faster video card, you will be going past what the CPU can keep up with.
