Hello
I'm on a project to revive my old Dell Optiplex 755 DT Which is maxed out at 8GB Ram and a Q6600.
What GPU Would be good for it? I've seen GT1030's in these but always open to see if anything more powerful will fit?

Thanks

Solution
The Dell OptiPlex 755 DT, you own, should be fine with a GTX750Ti. I suggest not going any higher than that due to the fact that after the release of the GTX1000 series cards, any card dropped into an incompatible UEFI BIOS envirnoment will grant you a black screen. On another note, if you did manage to get the GT1030 to wok on your system, I doubt anything more powerful can be dropped in due to the age and lack of power therein of the PSU.

Might want to read through this thread.

You have quite a few options actually including some 1000 series cards.
You CPU is nowhere near maxxed out.

Now here's the deal with GPUs. In the DT and SFF versions dell lists in the manual a 25W GPU limit on the PCIe 16x slot. On page 79 here.
https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_optiplex_desktop/optiplex-755_user%27s%20guide_en-us.pdf
Many people report that they ignore this without problems and run GTX750 aand 1050 GPUs.
But there's also a full height GPU riser card for that.

if you swapped in that CPU you may still have the aluminum block cooler. The heatpipe cooler for that is RW134.

The Q6600 can be tape modded to 3GHz. The 2nd photo is the mod.

But it still won't equal a Q9550,Q9650 CPU.
The ZOTAC GTX1050 MINI (and Ti version) is a very short single slot bracket GPU. You may have to trim some plastic to clear the Printer port. A single slot GTX750 ti (low profile with tall bracket) would be worth a try. Maybe you could borrow one to see how the PCIe slot handles it.
You need to avoid any UEFI video cards they won't work (Zotacs are OK).

Hmm. Will give a go as currently it's got the dreadful GT610 In it Ughh. I bought the system 4 Years ago from a site that thinks Core 2 Duo Machines can run Fortnite at high settings using GT730's. (https://www.compu-zone.co.uk/index.php/desktop-pcs.html)

If i went for a Zotac 750ti How would i get round the 25W Limit?
It's got a 280W PSU.
I am in the UK And finding a Full Height riser isn't so easy either
