Question best gpu to pair with an i3 550

Hello, just as the title says i'm looking for the best GPU to pair with an i3 550 it's in an old Dell inspiron 580 so it can't be too big as the dell case it's in is pretty small. i've already upgraded the PSU to a corsair CX 750m that i had lying around. this is going to be my main rig away from home. any advice is much appreciated. Thanks

GTX 1050 is about the best I would recommend for that CPU. Anything higher would be a waste.
Even a 1050 Ti would probably be pushing it.

I've got a GTX460 in my i3-550 rig running linux w/ 8gb ram, plays the oldies like cs:go pretty good. It's mentioned in the suggestions to downgrade about 1/2 way down, the GT 1030 is also mentioned and would be a bit easier on the wallet...
