They have shown that the HD6850 out performs the GTX 460 but not by much. They are very similar. I would say go for the card that suits you best.

If the processor is Intel:
Get the Asus GTX 460

If the processor is AMD:
If you are comfortable with overclocking:
Get the XFX HD 6850
If you are not:
Get the Asus Hd 6850

Edit: More questions, are you planning for CF/SLI and are you going to use more than 2 monitor?
