Hey guys,

I'm looking to create a solid build that I will use for software development (multiple VM instances, multitasking) and want to use to play games at high settings for the next few years.

I'm still in need of choosing a video card. My thoughts were either a GTX760, a Radeon 7950 or a Radeon 7970. I would like 3 monitor capabilities out of the box, but can settle for only 2, or 3 with add-ons/adapter. (Not looking to game on 3 monitors, but that could be cool).

Budget is 1300-1400$. Here is what I got (minus the video card):

Thoughts? There are so many different models for each of those chipsets, and I'm quite lost here. I'm looking to spend 250-400$ for this card.

Any input/recommendations is/are appreciated! Thanks!

I recommend this one over the Sapphire model mostly because it is cheaper and will perform exactly the same more or less. The Sapphire card is also a great card but because the Sapphire model has a slight overclock they are charging a lot more for it and you won't really see a noticeable performance increase. I'm pretty sure you could achieve the same overclock with the XFX through free overclocking software.

I recommend it over the GTX 760 because the HD 7970 is simply a better card albeit more expensive, but because your price range goes to $400 the HD 7970 would be the better choice.

I'd like to make an educated decision :) Why do you recommend this one in particular? Compared to the Sapphire model, or compared to the gtx 760?

I would go with a 7950, it can beat the 760 in some games and in the states I got mine for 75 dollars cheaper brand new. Love that card so much, just built a pc for my friend and put that bad boy in it as well.
