I am upgrading my pc and was wondering what would be the best grahics card my pc can handle under €500.

Current build:
HKC 4672GD Mini Tower
PSU: will upgrade to whatever is necessary (does not effect €500 budget)
Asus MAXIMUS VII GENE S1150 Z97 MATX (I am gonna buy this one)
Intel Core I7 3770 3.4GHz LGA1155
PATRIOT PV38G160LC9KG 8GB 1600 MHz C9 1.35V V3
Seagate 1TB SATA 6 Gbps 64MB buffer
INTEL SSD 330 series SATA3 60GB

(if you see anything else that you should do different fel free to notify me)

Solution
Your system can support a very good graphics card.

I would save your money and stick with a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, this performs +/-10% to a GTX 980 but for a little over half the price, excellent value for what you pay and defiantly worth the price. The GTX 980 however is not really a worthwhile investment.

PROBLEM: That motherboard does not support that CPU. You need an LGA 1155 Board to run the i7 3770.

Solution
I use the maximus VII gene. It is an outstanding Z97 motherboard.

But, the i7-3770K is incompatible with it. You want the i7-4790K.
If you already have the 3770K, then you will need a Z77 based motherboard.
You must have one already, and it should be sufficient.

To answer your question, €500 should buy you a GTX980 if you can find one. They are in demand now. I actually like the stock ones with the titan blower cooler for a smaller M-ATX case. You will need only a good 500w psu.

I think 60gb is too small for a "C" drive, it will fill up quickly and will lose performance.
120gb should be minimum, 240gb would be better.
Intel and Samsung are my picks.

no the 60gb is my solid state drive. the seagate 1TB is my hdd.
and il compare the Card to the other suggestion

I wil go with the 970 for exactly what you said.
but i am kinda having a hard time finding a micro ATX 1155 socket motherboard for a top price of €250. can you help me with that aswell? I dont really know which brands are any good

I would invest in a premium board for that kind of price, you don't get the performance out of it. This'll give you all you want and is an excellent board -

Asus P8Q77-M/CSM

my bad. i was searching for micro and then it showed this one.
I would like to be able of gaming on max on this PC for quite a while. can i do this with the card you suggested?

I just want to be sure i am making the right choice before i buy something i am gonna regret in 3 years

You'll be fine with the current components listed and the ones I have recommended for the years to come. You'll be able to game for 2 years to come at 1920x1080 very well, though we cannot predict the future, the current future is not saying that the GTX 970 is unfit for the upcoming.

The best graphic card for 500 Euro would be the GTX 980, it is exactly in the range of $500. It is also currently the number one best gaming graphic card in the world and also a little bit better than the GTX 970. You can also go for the GTX 970 for around $300, but i would recommend you get two GTX 970 if you are going to go for it. But choose wisely.

geofelt I am pretty sure he means this current build - (Original post at top of thread)
