best graphics card for $400

ok ppl i am planning on buying a new video card about $400 and i ll have to take in
consideration the delivery because am an international buyer so about 400 to 450max with the delivery

i was thinking about the evga 8800gt ssc

Not sure if the deal is still going. But BESTBUY has some crazy coupon 12% off that can be applied to the 8800GT 512MB, which is only $238. I think the coupon expires tomorrow...however, it seems like the BFG 8800GT is sold out, at least online - might be some still in-store.

Also, there was once a time you could get the 8800GT 512MB for $150 using Paypal discount + Dell.com...look at Source #2. The GTS just hasn't impressed me. 10% more performance on average over the GT for roughly $125 more just doesn't add up in my head. Prices are going to have to stabilize at $275-280 to justify that minimal performance gain over the GT.

Jesus - give us 320 owners a break already.

We didn't know about the impending 8800 GT or 3870 situation when we bought our cards. For a long time (in terms of GPU half life) the 320 was the best card for the money if you didn't go above 1600x1200.

It's overpriced NOW but back then it was the only sub $300 card that could be called high end.

I nominate the 320 for "most abused decent card" af all time. It's been unnecessarily trashed since the day it was released.

I just bought The Witcher; it runs great maxed out at 1680x1050.

I'm not quite sure how two 3850s compares to one 8800GT considering the former costs $360 minimum and the latter can be had for $250ish. I would buy two 8800GT 256mb for $400 before I would go the 3850 route. Just my thoughts.

ahh ..lol...no not really ..maybe 10% performance on some games....either way you forgot that it is $100+ more expensive than the 8800GT...you can get a 8800GT and a market heatsink for less and OC it way passed that...gg waste of money for the 8800GTS G92.

IMO: 8800GTS is worth $299...not a cent more.

1)One 8800GT canNOT be bought for 250ish at the moment. It costs 300ish.
2)The dude has a budget of $400 for the GPU.
3)One Radeon HD 3850 can very well be bought for $190 presently.
4)The performance of crossfire 3850 is much better compared to one $300 8800GT. (I've put the link to convince)

About the 3850 crossfire solution:
There's only 256mb of ram while the 8800GT has 512. So 8800GT is better.

Anyways Fry's was selling the 8800GT 512mb for $70...
