I have finally trashed my AMD Sempron +3000 and replaced it for AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000

So now here is parts that i going to replace in my old computer:
CPU: AMD Semprom +3000 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000
RAM: 1GB DDR2 with 4GB DDR2
Motherboard: GA-M61VME-S2 (rev. 2.0) <-- Not going to replace that. Just to let you guys know what mobo i have
HDD: 160GB to 500GB PS: Can SATA II HDD work with SATA I Motherboard?

First question i want to ask is Do i need to flash my bios and how to do it without breaking my mobo (I heard you can mess up your mobo) So do i have to flash bios in order to make all this work or not I have F4 BIOS from 2006

Second question (And most important)
What's the best GPU that is not going to be bottlenecked by AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3,1 GHZ
And how are newer games going to work with it

PS: This is my other computer in my other house That's the reason why i upgrade it

Solution
You will probably have to update your BIOS and it shouldn't mess anything up. Download the correct software from gigabyte website.

GPU - get maybe a HD7750

Thank you for fast replay But when i go to Q-Flash i only says Flash from Floppy Yes my computer has a floppy drive but i don't have a floppy. I heard there's some DOS Flashers that can be used from USB Is that right? And is that safe?
As for GPU Can i play BF4 AC4 and AC3 Hitman and others on LOW or mid wth resolution 800x600 with that GPU and CPU? and ram

Yes, just copy the files to USB and Q-flash should work with USB (as long as the USB is in FAT32 format)

If your power supply is good enough you could put in a more powerful card than the HD7750, say a 7770, but after that you will start to be very limited by the CPU.

Nah. As long i can play newes games on low or mid in 800x600 without serve lag I going to buy that card but can that card But can i play newest games on it with mid or low 800x600
PS: What's TDP of 7750
PS 2: Well let's say my PSU is 400W i can't see how much watts it have

The 7750 TDP is 55w I think - it gets all needed power from the 75w pcie slot.

The 7770 is about 80w TDP and will also work with most power supplies but it will need a 6 pin power connection (or a 4-pin molex to 6-pin adapter). It is a bit better than the HD7750 though

The Athlon 64 x2 6000 will not play 100% of the newest games smooth no matter what GPU you put in the PC. Games like watch dogs, the new wolfenstein game, battlefield multiplayer etc will be very hard on your CPU, even at 800x600. but it should still be able to play MOST games ok based on your settings :)

Oh and your other question - yes, the new HDD should work just fine.

BIOS Upgrade successful. Computer working stable All works great, RAM working great HDD working great CPU working great *high five* Waiting for the GPU. BTW I dont play watch dogs I play Battlefield single player (For multiplayer i got my CS 1.6) But will AC4 and AC3 work and Battlefield 4 and PES 2013 Oh yes and GTA IV (Still waiting for GTA V 🙁 )

Cheers.

PS: Best answer for you just answer this one

PS 2 : i already had all except the GPU 😉

High five!

AC4 worries me, that is a demanding game. Also GTAIV is quite poorly coded. You might get 30fps at 800x600 on low/med settings, but I honestly don't know :)

The others should be fine

Hmmm 2 questions. Would it make a diff having a 2gig 7750 or 7770 rather than the 1 gig ?

Can I upgrade my cpu with that mobo?

I got extreme coolermaster 550w 7gig of ram.

2gb vs 1gb - far more important is getting a ddr5 card not ddr3, 2gb vs 1gb almost doesn't matter with these cards.

Upgrade CPU - Apparently yes: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR/specifications/

Coolermaster 550w - what model? Some of these are ok

AMD FM2 / FM2+ is that compatible category whilst looking at the msy.com.au

AMD A4-4000 / A4-4020 /A4-6300 /A4-6320 / A6-5400K some under that catergory. Not sure what it all means though but I understand the whole AM3 wouldn't be compatible :)

hmmm not sure what brand the coolermaster elite 550+ is. Threw the box away, It's not a real expensive part of the puter and don't cringe too much when I say I have a shaw case :)

You have an AM2 motherboard not FM2...

Not really. I would need the +12v rating and / or the product number sorry

Motherboard - look between the PCI slots on your motherboard,it should say CROSSHAIR in big letters with a rev. number next to that?

So when i do get that cpu... will the MSI R9 270X Gaming 2 GB bottleneck or should be fine?

Trying to find threads related to those quad cores and graphics cards but failing. but i have seen ebay sell those cpu's reasonably priced tho used which is a bit of a worry but normal for an old cpu I'm sure.

Yes it will bottleneck. How much, depends on the game - but I wouldn't put anything bigger than, say, a gtx 750ti / HD7850 in there with the x4 9550. Even that might be pushing it
