According to this, a 650 watt psu is required for an rx 6800.

If you mean this power supply, it sounds like you should be good to go

According to pc cultists tier list, that psu is a tier A unit which is one of the best you can get. I’ve got an 850 watt rmx unit that I’m pretty happy with. Someone else might be able to tell you more about the rme vs rmx units. But it sounds to me like it would be good to go.

As far as the rx 6800, performance wise it looks like it’s around a 3070 level maybe a bit faster. I’d say if a 6750xt or...
Which one? That's a rated output and a company, not an exact power supply.

There are like eight power supplies that EVGA has sold at precisely 500W. And a few of them, like the EVGA W1, are literal garbage.
what do you recommend i do instead?? also i looked it up the pn number is evga 500w 80+ 100-w1-0500

Yup, that's junk. Should not be used with a 4060 or a 4070.

For a 40-series card, anything in Tier A would be preferable, Tier B in a pinch.

If your budget is $550 dollars, I’d consider looking at the amd rx 6700xt or the 6750xt and a power supply upgrade. If you didn’t need a psu upgrade possibly I’d suggest the rx 6800xt. But the 6750xt can still perform on par with the 4060ti.
wouldnt i personally rather go for the 4060 ti since its slightly better but 400 the amd is 420 im not worried about the price but if the performance are pretty much the same might i aswell go with 4060 ti and if i do so whats a good psu for it?

It *was* when it was new, but it's been nearly five years since that was made, so everything is either used -- buying used PSUs is a no-no -- or been sitting on a shelf somewhere for a very long time.
thank you so much for telling me this i jst made a 120 purchase for a used (just cancelled) whats the best one you recommend under 100 im not tryna break the bank im saving up

And yes, except for a problem with overpower protection being set too high -- easily avoidable if the PSU had a lot of headroom -- the G3 was a really nice Super Flower-made PSU. Sadly, it's just not new these days. I still have one in semi-retirement powering my backup server.

yeah i have decent headroom just enough hopefully we can make it work i never understood why older technology is not the same no more its like it has to stay updated always. oh well once again all info was very much appreciated !

If you are inclined to look at the 6700xt and 6750xt, I saw the 6700xt on Newegg for 329. The 6750 can be had for 359. It’s a little faster than the 6700xt, but not a lot I don’t think.

If you wanted to take a chance on used cards I saw someone selling an rx 6800 on eBay The other day for about 400. The 4060ti 8gb just doesn’t have enough vram imo. I think the 4060ti 16gb will run about 500. At that price, I’d consider spending a bit extra for a 6800xt. Though I did see Newegg had an rx 6800 non xt card for 509. So that might be worth considering.

The 4060ti 16gb may be slightly faster that the 8gb card but I think you’d be on par with it or beating it. The exception would be ray tracing where nvidia would have an advantage for sure. But in terms of bang for the buck value the amd card is a good value.

Found a review on it from 2020 but gives you an idea.

However if you are looking at used I did come across this card…

Within a few dollars but faster card. With used cards though keep in mind you don’t get the warranty but I think that eBay has a 30 day money back guarantee. So if you go that route, I’d run the daylights out of the card when you get it to make sure it’s in good working order before that time.

Looks like amd says a minimum of 750 watts for the 6800xt so it should be fine, but may not be a bad idea to bump up to the 850 watt psu for extra headroom if it’s not much more if you opt for the 6800xt. Just a personal preference so you aren’t bumping right up against the limit.

Hello again sir, I'm getting the card in today hopefully and psu 850w 6800xt but it has 3 8 pin connectors on the graphic card I'm worried I won't have enough 8 pin from psu or do I daisy chain them? I'm frustrated at only this part whatever help is very much appreciated.
