Best Graphics Card for no more than $150?

My friend is going to be building a computer that he plans to game on. He plans on only spending $100-$150 on his graphics card. I am guessing he is planning on playing most games, but I'm sure it doesn't have to be on max settings. I told him it should probably be a 2GB card, as he was asking if a 1GB card would be good enough. So, what is the best graphics card, preferably a 2GB, currently on the market for under $150?
