I have a PC with a Rampage 2 motherboard. I want to be able to play some of the newer games that use directx 12.

My CPU and RAM are probably still capable but my GTX 275 is past it.

What is a good, reasonable cost option for a graphics card that I could install on this motherboard taking into account legacy BIOS etc.

I recommend the RX 580 8GB for its excellence price-performance ratio. At $229 it is a steal and trades blows with the GTX 1060 6GHz which is more expensive. It performs great at High settings. If are looking for ultra settings, then go for 1070 which is think is an overkill for 1080p gaming at almost double the price of RX 580. You can select your Quality Settings, CPU and GPU configuration to see how it will perform using this tool: http://gpucheck.com/gpu/amd-radeon-rx-580/intel-core-i5-2300-2-80ghz/high

Thanks for this response Alex, will this card work with normal BIOS and doesn't require UEFI? I have heard that a lot of modern cards require this and it could be a very expensive upgrade if it doesn't work.

Hi gary, are you purchase a rx 580 card for your pc?
I have rampage ii gene with i7-920. Recently change my vga with strix rx580 but my pc does not boot up. Bios sounds 1 long, 3 short beeps that mean vga not detected.
