I'm glad I purchased a GTX 460, it was a great upgrade from my 9800gtx+. I'm thinking of going SLI, but since I'm on a 775 platform (q9550 @3.5) I wonder if there would be a bottleneck there and maybe I should hold off?

Hope to see a pricewar!

No. There was a test with 2 480's sli'd with both 16x/16x and 4x/4x, and there were no bandwidth bottlenecks.

Completely agree with darkerson.

Just a minor correction:
Middle column, 8th row, HD HD 5670.

And as opc said: "What is a GTS 45 ?"

Thanks.

My GTX470 SLI setup is a recommendation woohoo!! (well not mine, but you get the idea)

I'm glad i got them, but now i have to sacrifice the upcoming AMD Processors because pretty much nobody will be making a SLI version of AM3+ or AM4...

There are only 2 DDR3 SLI boards that i could find from almost EVERY major manufacturer for AMD boards.. and next generation will be lucky to have one..

Nice roundup... :)

But, just like Gamer's cards how about a nice roundup for HTPC oriented discreet cards? Many people are building their own HTPCs or going to something readymade (those ION boxes). But mot DIYers usually hit this question while finalizing the config, which discreet card with give bang-for-buck for HTPC?

Something on that topics would be great help, especially if done a review roundup based around video decoding/de-interlacing/post-processing and overall picture quality perspective.

[citation][nom]ray-ng[/nom]I occasionally see the Radeon 4870 for $99.99 on Newegg. How come it wasn't mentioned??[/citation]

I completely agree with you. I just bought 2 4870 1GB for just $200 on newegg. It's quite shocking that it's not on the recommendation list.

I love these articles. Debating on getting a 460 1g or just wait for the 6xxx series to come out ... along side price drops lol.

I always like to get the best value for my money and always find the charts & info on here very useful.

Iv compared the prices here with the FPS results from
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2010-gaming-graphics-charts-high-quality/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-1920x1200,2397.html

The best overall value is the 5770 @ 3.27 fps/$

With this in mind I disagree with the 2x5750 recommendation in favour of 2x5770's, it's only $30 more with better fps/$ ratio.

Then if you compare 2x5770's with one 5870, the 5870 is only 5% faster but 27% more expensive.

Good news for the budget card here, the 5570. At 50% the price of the 5770 has close performance of 46.9%

I really dont understand this roundup style here lately. You give a range of cards then instead of saying hey buy this one card in this price range you say buy one of these 4 cards. This one if you want to spend 250, this one if you want to spend 300, etc... what's the point of that? You basically say buy any card due to the price spread of them. I think the only current generation card that isnt represented here is the 450 lol!

Please pick 1 card for each 100 dollar price range.

HD 5770
"This card continues to offer impressive performance for its moderate asking price."

I purchased a 4870 which gets slightly better frame rates in almost all games and I paid $85.

I know I am getting great performance at a price that is tough to beat. I didn't buy the next gen cards because DX11 doesn't look that much better and the games take a large frame rate dip when DX11 is enabled. Top that off with the fact that I'm not going to buy 3 monitors for eye-finity any time soon and I offically have no reason to go with next gen hardware.
