You could go for X99 with i7-5830k, that will be way better for editing, but it will be expensive, quite expensive, however if you can afford it, it's worth it. If not then personally I have to opt for 6700k due to newer tech and ddr4 support. Also x99 boards have 128gb support 😛
Z170 motherboard goes with Skylake and DDR4 so I assume you wanted to say i7-6700k. Also you have missed the CPU cooler, my guess is you will use the h100i from your old PC. Only thing I would change is - go for a better GPU or at least an r9 380 also if you don't plan on getting a better GPU, get a smaller PSU, no reason to use 750W for a gpu which requries 430W tops.

You put a lot of money into that rig. I suggest replace the gtx 960 with a gtx 970 which has more power and it would also be easier to sell in the future if you want to upgrade, since gtx 970 is minimum recommended for Oculus Rift.

The Genome Case comes with a CPU Cooler - Pre-installed extreme liquid cooling system consists of a 360mm radiator, 3 PWM fans and a reservoir with helix offers PC gamers not only cyclic great cooling performance but also an aesthetic design.

One question: Why the i7-6700k instead of the i7-4790?

Thank you.

Thank you. Will replace the gtx 960

What would you recomend?

- The i7-6700k with the Asus TUF Sabertooth Z170 S Motherboard
or
- The i7-4790k with a different Motherboard? (Which one?)

I'm trying to build a rig that has the best performance and also a cool inside looks since I'm using the Genome Case and I can't seem to find a cool looking motherboard that fits the 4790k and it has the capacity for up to 64GB Ram

Solution
can i use the genome with my asrock x99 10g board(lga 2011v3)? I notice in the thread people referring to the lga-2012, but not the v3. I have the intel i7-5930k processor. I asked deepcool via email if it supports it but i have not heard back. Does anyone have input or if also if they sell the genome cooler kit separate without the case.
