Which brand of the GTX 1080 offers the best aftermarket features and factory overclocking?

I read that it's the ASUS Strix ROG edition, but others have said that it's the MSI version.

It's a toss up at this point ...

Asus held the title for 5xx and 6xx ... 7xx was a draw and MSI had it fir 9xx .... right now it's up in the air until we see some good tear down reviews. And it's not best brand but best model ....

The competition tho will mostly center on the Asus Strix and MSI Gaming X....I'l bet that different reviewers will be giving the nod to Asus as often as MSI from what I have seen so far

Each round its a dance between having the best stuff and making the most profit ... seems after a year where you were the top dog, there's a tendency to sit back on ya rep and cut a few corners next year.what they also try and to is grab kudos submitting a high end card to get "noticed" and then go with less on the cards that are priced to sell

The MSI Armor has the same 10 phase PCB as the Gaming X but is $20 cheaper.

Need more articles like this that get into the nitty gritty

ASUS, eVGA, MSI, Galax/KFA2, Gigabyte, Shappire, HIS and XFX are all reliable and good brands.
ASUS tends to be a bit exagerating in price.
Factory OC is no longer important since Maxwell, just get a good GTX1080 with a good cooler and you are good to go.
OC the GPu yourself. Paying premium for factory OC is not that important anymore.
The difference between already good cards is minimal too.
I would say, get either the cheapest (but make sure the brand is on my list above) or the one with your favorite color scheme....that is it...

Factory OC never mattered ... the RVHA SC for example always came with a nice factory OC and cooler but was nerfed by the reference board, stock VRM and no special components ... always came in last in any roundup (see bit-tech link above)

I'm curious to see how well similar cards perform ... The MSI Armor and Gaming X use the same 10 phase PCB but one is $20 cheaper than the other.... so is there a dude in the MSI marketing department silly enough not to just dismiss their best selling card ? The cards leave factory with different clocks... the MSI gaming (overclocking) app works only on the Gaming X. When tested side by side will they test any different ? ... and if the answer is no...why the heck would they release so many versions .. two with identical PCBs ?'

Another thing to look at is owner dissatisfaction ... last generation, 1 egg ratings by Gigabyte board owners were 3 times Asus and MSI.

newegg reviews are a crapshoot like every tech website. most reviews on newegg are from users who so not know what they are doing
