Question Best Hard Drive Wipe\Zeropass Software (open source or commercial)?

Hello, I need to sell the laptop i used to do work on. Before selling it I want to be able to completely delete beyond recovery my hard drive. I used Active Killdisk but is not an option now since it has issue recognizing usb 3 devices even after using the latest version. any open source or comercial software is welcomed. If its free better.

Assuming this is an internal drive, and not an SSD, DBAN will do what you want.

It is a Hard Drive, mechanical regular hard drive. Its a 7 year old computer.

hello, try to do a low-level format, that way your hard drive will return to its factory state.
HDD Low Level Format Tool is good for that.

I thought of this using CMD but I really will like something similar to Active Killdisk with multipass and zero pass options

Using a low level format is not an option, you can still recover the data even after formatting.
few days ago i decided to power up my old computer to recover data, used a program it showed all the data from 2 years ago even after formatting.
