Hello,
Im putting together a media center pc and was wondering what hdd would be my best bet for speed......all movies are stored in externals which u will be getting usb3 for eventually but i need to know the best main hdd to run media center and if ur familiar w it media browser...basically the things im looking for is startup time and load of like thumbnails and whatnot....i repeat nothing but program info is being stored on the drive (OS is win 7 64 ultimate) im already getting the best bang for my buck (in my opinion) with the rest of the build it just seems like i need the best seek time without going SSD ( can't afford it and the ones i can afford im leery of because it seems too good to be true)....im lookin to spend at a max $150 and i am unfamiliar w raid or scsi so lookin for sata (2?) So any help would be GREATLY appreciated...,also i do have 6gb/s sata capability on my machine

Well SATA3 is pointless right now for non solid state hard drives because even SATA2 isn't saturated by regular drives.

If you really, really, really don't want to go for a SSD. Then pick up a velociraptor drive. As far as I'm aware this is the fastest non raid, non SCSI, non SSD drive available to the enthusiast market. That 300GB model comes in at $150 but I think you can get lesser capacities for cheaper.
