Hi guys I don't know if this falls under the category of headphones but I was wondering if you guys could help me with suggesting a solid gaming headphone that has sound as the priority
Here we have Artis pro, Steel Series, Corsair, Kingston, I'm thinking to buy Steel Series arctis pro + GameDac,

Do you think it's worth the money and how's the sound quality of it.

Thanks a lot

Honestly, if I were to buy headphones, I would go to a store that specialises in stereos and audio equipment and look there. That's where you'll find the best headphones. Computer stores won't have anywhere near the selection that a real stereo shop will.

Names like Artis Pro, Steel Series, Corsair and Kingston aren't anywhere near as good as names like Bose, Sennheiser, HiFiMan, Philips or Sony.

Remember that headphone sets are audiophile items, not computer items.

I have also been hunting a set of 'gaming' headphones for BG3, insane fun with a group...anyway, to the point. I have been scouring the webz reading pretty much any article I can find from the best budget picks all the way up to the "best of the best" opinions. The one major aspect missing in my opinion is that you can't try them on. Doesn't really matter if they are best set in the world for sound and microphone if they feel crappy wearing them.

I tried to look at some up at Best Buy. The SO wanted to go up to find her a set of wireless for use with her phone. The drawback there was that before rona, they had a display of various models out you could pick up, look at, try on. That basically doesn't exist, at least at that store which is in a very good area. They do carry a lot of them, but inside the box is about worthless for assessment purposes.

My first option after this was to buy the absolute least expensive name brand budget set I could find. Some JBL renewed. That will get me in the game and give me a point of reference to compare against. I feel pretty sure I will want something better so my consideration is to purchase a set from a place with a good return policy such as the jungle site, try them, and return what I don't like.

I honestly hate to do business that way. It is so wasteful and frustrating, but there are less and less options available. Some guy I don't know at some online review site can only pass along their own impression and gives me very little idea of how they are going to feel beyond generic comments that might get made in the review.

edit- One comment I will make in regard to a set I purchased some years back from Bose.
They were AMAZING sounding headphones that carried what they called a "lifetime" warranty. This set of headphones cost me nearly $300, and I owned them for years. The last year or so the ear surrounds started crumbling apart on the pleather, and shortly after that the glue gave up so they were completely unusable.
I had registered with Bose for the lifetime warranty, and they still sold the same set with a slightly different model number (think letter at the end of the model) for about half the price I paid those years before. Apparently, Bose idea of "lifetime" and mine were different. They offered me a $40 discount card for that same model. Insulting wasn't even sufficient.
I know that realistically a company can't warranty something forever. Craftsman anyone, but back on track...my expectation was that having the same model was a shoe in, if they were discontinued oh well. The experience has put me off ever purchasing from that brand again. In spite of the perceived quality of the brand, that level of not even trying customer service was ridiculous.

The point being buyer beware on these "good brand" audiophile type units that cost well more than they should for what they are.

Definitely Bose Sennheiser etc are music based headphones and few years ago I bought Anker headphones wireless ones and they sound great but the only thing I really hate is that I can't use the actual quality audio while using the microphone in order to use Audio and Mic properly I need to switch the audio channel to Free AG audio which sound like utter <Mod Edit>
Thats why I was looking for a gaming headphones which could offer decent audio quality

Sound is subjective. Better to look for features that you want, narrow down your options and go the store and try it before buying them.

Some headphones become uncomfortable if you wear them too long...
Living in a 3rd world country has its cons and it's that I can't get to use sample headphones lol and they won't let us use it either because its sealed so it's forest gump quote all over here it's like a box of chocolates you never know what you gonna get

True I'm not gonna lie but Sony most expensive headset and my 70$ anker headphones sound the same lol
but Bose however is probably the best I've listened to yet

And I remember going to an audio store back in the days so surprisingly they had one of Bose models on the rack for testing so I picked it up and noticed that the cushions was all teared up and I asked how come this is possible for such an expensive headset and that too while it's on testing considering people don't wear it for long there and he had no answer lol not blaming him obv but it's just that higher the price doesn't mean higher the quality of sound

Currently looking for a headset which won't have the Free AG audio <Mod Edit> when Im playing with friends lol

My only concern regarding the music wireless headphones is that I can't use the Mic and Audio simultaneously during gaming i have to switch it to Free AG audio to use it lol
I don’t know what you mean. I have no problem having both game sound and my music playing whilst also using a desktop mic. I just use the Windows XBox Gamebar app to set the audio levels of each.

Basically I use bluetooth anker life q30 headphones
so when I'm playing with my friends I can't use the stereo audio and the mic together I have to switch it to Free AG audio
Basically Stereo only works when not using microphone I don't know but it's confusing

Ohhhh... You want a gaming headset (with a mic)! Now I understand your question. Yes, in that case, an audio store won't be of any use. I honestly can't say that I know much about them because the only headset I have is my pilot's headset (nothing fancy, just a SoftComm Silver Fox). I suppose that I could use adapters and plug it into my motherboard but I don't play competitive online games that would require it.

I can certainly look into this for you. I would just need to know what country you hail from and what your budget is (in your local currency).

What I can tell you, as someone who flies planes, is that for prolonged use, you'll want a good circumaural set. They're big and they're bulky, but they're also the most comfortable, offer the best dynamic range of sound, are great at blocking out external noises like air conditioners and wont leave sore marks on your ears after several hours of use.

From what I can see online, the Logitech G332 seems to be a solid choice and moderately-priced.

The only gaming headset I can vouch for is Logitech's Gaming PRO X headset. I can wear them for hours and the audio quality is fairly good. The only gripe is the pleather on mine started peeling off after about 2-2.5 years, but the padding's still good.

You're a pilot?! cool! The closest I will probably ever get to flying planes is MSFS 2020.

I haven't done it in a looooong time though. It used to be crazy-expensive about five years ago. Now it's prohibitively so.

My best friend (the FS2020 nut with the RTX 3080) and I would rent a DA-40 DiamondStar. We'd fly out to Goderich, Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron for breakfast at a restaurant attached to Goderich Airport called Flippin' Eggs (I think that it doesn't exist anymore).

The coolest thing about it was that Flippin' Eggs had two parking lots. A normal-sized one for the locals in cars and a gigantic parking lot for pilots in planes. There are few things cooler than landing, taxiing and parking a plane in an aircraft parking lot. Then we walk over to the restaurant and people see us coming from a DiamondStar. It makes you feel like some kind of celebrity because DA-40s are just gorgeous planes:

NOTE: That's not me, that's a photo from flyouts.com. I just always like to show a picture of a plane with someone standing near it to give it scale. Having said that, that's a Dutchman who is well over 2m tall because he makes the plane look much shorter than it is.

Unfortunately, the cost of flying has become too much to be worth it. The only way for it to be affordable per hour is to own your own plane and that only works if you can afford to fly a certain number of hours per year to break even with the cost of insurance and maintenance.

Buying a plane isn't necessarily expensive, but owning one always is! 😉
