The Kingston 2TB NV2 has been pretty good and on sale for $129

Synthetic benchmarks were a little weak, but the real-world read benchmarks were excellent. The write benchmarks were mediocre, but many of us read far more than write. It makes a great gaming drive.

False. Now to say "You won't be buying a 2.5 NVMe in a store" would 99.99% be true, U.2 NVMe drives are 2.5 inch form factor but share the same physical (not not electrically) SAS like connector. So unless you had a SAS connector you couldn't even connect it to begin with unless you had an adapter cable.

I bought an NV2 to use as scratch drive for video muxing/encoding and it's pretty bad at sequential writes, my usual workflow is concatenating 60-100gb of mp4 media which I dump from temp storage to NV2 and it gets extremely hot and often slow.

I ordered (3) 1TB PNY CS2241's from Newegg on 10/31 for $34.99 apiece...they're still on "backorder". Go figure! They're now listed for $65...reckon I'll never see them but I ain't cancelling the order.
