I am a translator and I spend most of my day reading and writing text.

What I am looking for:
- Easy-on-the-eyes reading mode
- No glare
- Sharp text
- If possible, good quality colors
- Budget: below $200

- Should I go for a 23" or 27" monitor?
- Is an IPS panel the best choice?
- What resolution do you suggest?

I don't play games (although my little boy does, but nothing too major yet 😛). I perform a lot of Internet searches. I sometimes need to layer two documents horizontally across my screen for comparison while working. I also would like to be able to watch movies on this monitor.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Just a quick update after doing a bit of research. I am in Canada.

Finances are tight at the moment, so realistically, the largest I can afford is a 22-23" monitor.
I am definitely leaning towards an IPS panel.
LED screen
Matte screen
Reader mode
Flicker-safe
(I saw one with screen-split function and woah! such a nice feature in my line of work!)
Not-so-wobbly stand (height-adjustable would be nice, although not in my budget)
HDMI preferred (I have both HDMI and VGA ports on my laptop)

I'm looking at some LG and AOC models. The warranty on AOC is nice, although it uses (I think) LG's IPS technology, at a slightly higher price.

Here are the ones that made my shortlist so far:

- LG 23MP75HM-P (refurbished)
- LG 22MP67HQ-P (new)
- AOC i2267fw (new)

I'm hoping to solve this quickly because my neck is hurting so bad from working on a laptop I can no longer stand it. I was planning on buying the whole computer set in a couple of months, with a really good tower, but for now, I think I can set up peripherals (monitor-mouse-keyboard) to work around my laptop. Is this feasible?

Thank you all for your input. And thanks for letting me know if you think this laptop+monitor+USB mouse+keyboard combo would work... I guess I could still use the USB ports on the laptop?

Hi, Just out of curiosity: What monitor did you get?
You should go get flux installed on your computer https://justgetflux.com/
Then change the colors to "night time" It will take away the blue color which in my case seemed to help on my eyes a LOT, but like you I'm still looking for another monitor that's more eco friendly (low poer consumption) and easy on the eyes!
BTW Millions of people use flux wordlwide and it's FREE 😉
