I think the engineers I work with, that have laptops for cad work, all use i7's. I am not sure what the GPU is in them. Most likely just the Intel HD graphics that is on the CPU.
details on both processors please, I need both of there model numbers?

1.6GHz AMD Quad-Core A8-4555M accelerated processor with 4MB L2 cache for reliable performance; 2.4GHz with AMD Turbo Core technology. 640GB (5400 RPM) SATA hard drive, 6GB DDR3 system memory (expandable to 16GB) AMD Radeon HD 7600 Graphics
(On a Toshiba Model #L955DS5140NR)
2.6GHz Intel Core i5-3230M processor, 750GB (5400 RPM) hard drive, 8GB DDR3 system memory, Intel GMA HD graphics
(On an Asus Model# K55A-DS51)
i5 for sure. a10 is approximately equal (generally worse when you consider everything) vs an i3. i5 is faster and a8 is slower. graphics are much more similar between the two considering the a8 only has 256 shaders vs the 384 of the a10.

Thanks, was that A8 shaders, 256 vs 384 of the A10? (or did you mean vs the Intel i5?)
Defiantly the the i5, the integrated graphics on the i5 aren't to the standard of the a8 but the i5 is nearly 2x faster in doing most processes. For gaming the A8 would be better but the i5's intergrated graphics can still play games like crysis 2 (on low)
